CERT lessons are developed by top radiologic educator, Eugene D. Frank, MA, RT(R), FASRT, FAEIRS, in topic areas needed most by technologists including CT, mammography and MRI.

Eugene “Gene” Frank received his radiography education at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, and became certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in 1971.  He earned a Masters degree in Educational Management from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN. 

Gene retired in 2007 after 37 years of employment as a radiologic technologist. Upon retirement, he was Director of the Radiography Program at Riverland Community College in Austin, MN.  His previous employer was the Mayo Clinic in Rochester where he worked for 31 years, including 21 years as the Director and Assistant Professor in the Radiography Program for the clinic’s College of Medicine.

Gene has published 11 manuscripts in professional journals and authored and coauthored four radiology textbooks including Merrill’s Atlas of Radiographic Positioning and Procedures and Radiography Essentials for Limited Operators.

Gene has received the Jean I.Widger Distinguished Author Award from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the Hartman Centennial Lecturer Award from the Association of Educators in Radiological Sciences, the Outstanding Educator Award from the Mayo School of Health-Related Sciences and the W.C. Roentgen Radiography Teaching Award from the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists. He is a Fellow in both the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the Association of Educators in Imaging and Radiological Sciences.
